WCS Academic Poster Session
The Western Coatings Symposium (WCS) is seeking academic poster presentations for the 35nd Biennial WCS to be held at the Paris Hotel, Las Vegas, NV, on October 17-20, 2021.
The WCS Academic Poster Session is designed to encourage university students* to submit posters promoting new ideas and technologies based on preliminary or completed coatings or related materials research. All students* presenting an accepted poster will receive a $200 stipend and are eligible for the three Academic Poster Session monetary awards. The monetary value of the awards are $1200 for first place, $600 for second place, and $300 for third place. In addition, four students will be invited to do a short oral presentation in a special session.
Each accepted academic poster will be provided with a 36″ x 48″ display board to highlight the research project. Students will be required to be present in the exhibit hall during WCS exhibit hours. Only one poster can be submitted by a given student with a maximum of two students per poster. A University can elect to set up an accepted academic poster without a student, but the University will not receive the stipend or be eligible for the three academic poster competition awards.
*Definition: In order to be eligible for the stipend and to register for the show as a student, a “student” is defined as someone who is actively enrolled full time in an accredited university, college, high school, or middle school. Students must be able to show WCS a valid student identification or proof of enrollment at their stated academic institution.
To participate, submit a 100-200 word Academic Poster Abstract by September 10, 2021 including title of paper, University name, author name(s), and contact information. Submissions must be completed and electronically emailed by October 1, 2021.
